Redcar

I visited Redcar beach in the summer which is the closest beach to my hometown Middlesbrough. I thought this would be a good beach to start off with as my grandparents are also from Redcar who can give me information on the history of the tourism and attractions.

In a book I got from my grandparents called 'A Pictorial History' by Phil Philo it explained that in response to an increasing number of day trippers from nearby industrial communities such as Middlesbrough and County Durham, Redcar developed a variety of what became recognised as traditional British seaside activities. This included activities such as landscaped parks, theatres, tea gardens, boating lakes and shopping.
